Athletic & Fitness Centers
The AV Systems needs and applications in modern athletic and fitness centers has evolved and become more integrated in the past decade. JB Pro Sound provides design, sales, service and installation of specialized fitness and athletic AV Systems from waterproof aquatic wireless systems to weatherproof outdoor stadium systems. We have designed and installed systems in aerobics centers, gymnasiums and outdoor venues.
Durability
Our experience has taught us an essential truth about the interfacing of exercise and electronics. These folks are rough on stuff! (No disrespect intended.) It is simply the rigors and demands placed on this equipment in these settings that makes environments challenging. Hot, humid swimming pools. Large, cavernous, echoing gymnasiums. Outdoor environmental conditions. The movement of people using wireless microphones and the stress of daily use with many different users. These conditions require the most durable and rugged professional equipment available.
Backups for your backups
Because of the demands placed on certain equipment used by fitness professionals, we recommend a certain amount of redundant systems and backups. We know it’s going to break at some point. Two is better. Three is best. In these facilities the systems must work and backups must be available.
Types of Systems
Athletic and fitness centers have special needs in many areas that we can provide solutions:
- Aerobics and Fitness Room Music/Microphone Systems
- Waterproof Microphones and Submersible Wireless Belt-Packs
- Wireless Microphone and Headset Systems for Officials and Coaching Staff
- Wireless Battery Operated Sound Systems (Great for poolside or outside)
- Integrated Audio Video Systems for Cycling/Spinning/Extreme Biking Rooms
- Paging and Public Address Systems
- Security Camera Systems
- Loudspeaker Systems for Outdoor Stadiums (The Three W’s: Learn the difference between Weather Resistant, Weatherproof and Waterproof equipment)
The Three W’s (and an “S”) Weather Resistant, Weatherproof and Waterproof are terms commonly thrown around and often misunderstood. We will clarify simply how these terms are used in the AV Industry. It is essential that this type of equipment be selected and installed by professionals. It must be the right type in the right place at the right angle for the right application. The first two W’s are fairly straightforward and typically refer to loudspeaker systems as most audio electronics are not weather resistant or weatherproof. “W” number three is a little more slippery.
More
Weather Resistant means that some protection against the elements outdoors is offered. You will typically see this type of equipment labelled as “indoor/outdoor,” and it will last longer than non-weatherized components. We recommend that this type of equipment be installed under eaves or other protected outdoor areas and covered during harsh seasonal conditions.
Weatherproof means that the equipment can sustain direct exposure to the elements in a variety of environments. These products are constructed inside and out of special materials (fiberglass, Kevlar, nylon) that repel water, moisture, UV and dirt. They are designed for year-round, outdoor use. Some loudspeakers even have drainage systems in them.
Waterproof is probably the most misused and misunderstood of the three W’s. For us, it generally means that you can throw, splash, spray, spritz, or anoint, the product with water. So, in our case, a weatherproof loudspeaker would also be considered waterproof and a waterproof microphone would also be considered weatherproof. However, neither means you can dunk it under water, like your waterproof watch. Confused yet?
The Big “S” is for Submersible. Your watch may be waterproof but you better check to see if it is also submersible before you go swimming with it. There is not a lot of submersible AV equipment. There are loudspeakers that are specifically designed to work under water. I’ve never come across an application where I needed them, but we can get them if you present us with that challenge. We have, on the other hand, sold submersible wireless systems with waterproof microphones for use in pools. Great for baptismal use also. Ask us about this product!

"Dear Jack,
I tried the neck loop this morning in church and, even in spite of my T-coil being enhanced by the audiologist, it didn't pick up the FM from the sound system.
I am really at a loss what to do, because church is so important to me. I am grateful that you had this idea of a neck loop and certainly appreciate your help obtaining it. I am sorry to have to return it to you.
Thanks again."
~ Joyce Barteldt
"Dear Jack,
Thanking you profusely for the great sound system you installed in our new worship space. And, especially thanking you for your patience in the way we needed to fund this very significant part of our project. No one ever envisioned we would be this far ahead of the game after opening the new building a little over four months ago."
~ Fr. John Jacquel
Our Lady of the Lake Parish
"Dear Jack,
I would like to thank you for the taking time to help with the installation of our sound system over the phone. We were able to successfully hook up the system allowing opening day to go very smoothly."
